We are devastated by Monday’s shooting of 8 people in Georgia this week, including six Asian American massage attendants.  This violence is part of disturbing rise in hate directed against the AAPI community.  The shooting took place a day after a report released by Stop APPI Hate revealed that of the nearly 3,800 anti-hate incidents reported since last year, 2,800 (or 68%) had been directed at women.  This is a tragic reminder of the life-threatening consequences of hate, xenophobia, white supremacy and misogyny.  Amalgamated Foundation is reaffirming our commitment to Asian American communities and to creating accountability and systemic change to address the rise of racist, xenophobic, and misogynistic rhetoric along with the rise of white nationalism.

To that end, we are committing $25,000 to a Rapid Response Fund which will provide funding to groups working to fighting violence and hate directed at the AAPI community.

These resources will go directly to groups including:

Asian Americans Advancing Justice-Atlanta (advancingjustice-atlanta.org)

Caaav: Organizing Asian Communities

National Asian Pacific American Women's Forum (NAPAWF)
